The diving areas around Port d’Andratx are the best around Mallorca. On the fantastic cliff coast we have found some excellent diving spots for beginners and professionals. Here one will encounter everything the Mediterranean has to offer under and above water – From caves, two small wrecks to the natural park „Isla Dragonera“ there is everything a diver’s heart desires. We have over 40 different dive sites which makes the diving in Mallorca an unforgettable experience.

Below you will find a few of our selected dive sites with descriptions of the underwater world.

S’Aguilot

This is one of our most beautiful sites. It’s located „just around the corner“, immediately on the large peninsula „La Mola“.

A very simple, but still varied diving spot, which has so much to offer. Here are sun-drenched flat areas with many hiding places for octopus, but also lower laying rocks, which stand like pillars in up to 30 meters depth. It is a habitat of many morays, conger eels and lobsters. A haven for colorful nudibranchs therefore not disappointing those divers seeking for the smaller creatures in the ocean. On the way you will be floating over mesmerizing sea grass meadows (Posidonia), over which barracudas patrol regularly.

On the way back, the coastal formations offer a wide variety of opportunities to search among the crevices, holes and tunnels for different Mediterranean life.

The wreckage of an old fishmonger and its old diesel engine, surrounded by moray and conger eels, offer the exceptional end of an exciting dive.

Penon S’Aguilot

Also in the bay of S’Aguilot is a large rock, which rises far out of the water and stretches under water to an imposing rock formation. This pillar (Spanish: Penon = rock) lends its name to the dive site.

A very simple but beautiful spot where everyone – from beginner to professional – can enjoy. At the beginning, a diversely covered archway invites you to dive through the rock formation in the direction of the outer edge. Here you can admire smaller groupers, scorpion fish and beautiful anemones.

On the outer side is a large sea grass meadow, where you can find a wreck inhabited by moray and conger eels. Along the cliff, you will see small crevices, caves and overhangs which are inhabited by scorpion fish, octopus, sepia and so much more.

On a beautiful, sun-drenched plateau in the flatter area, schools of common two-banded seabream, Salema porgy and often also large schools of barracuda can be observed at close distance. During the night dives, one can observe a large number of hunting octopus and sepia and different kinds of scorpion fish.

The cave at „Punta Galinda“

This exciting and easy dive site with a large cave has a wonderful topography and diverse rock formations and growth on the walls of the cave. Interestingly enough are the extraordinary rock formations and wash-outs.

For thousands of years large round stones have rubbed almost circular holes in the rock and the walls provide ideal shelter for octopus and various types of nudibranchs.

The „highlight“ is the beautiful view from the inside of the cave looking out into the azur blue water. Sunlight forms an almost surreal-looking radiating curtain of fascinating beauty.

The dive begins with a very diversified underwater landscape in front of the entrance to the grotto and offers a beautiful archway to dive through, with many rocks and large areas of sea grass.

Arrecife Barracuda

The „Barracuda reef“ (Arrecife = reef) offers three different anchorages and routes! Situated directly on the „Cap La Mola“, there is an extensive plateau stretching along the steep and impressive cliffs.

This „terrace“ offers an incredible abundance/wealth of fish. Schools of common two-banded seabream, Salema porgy, mulets and damselfish are roaming between huge boulders, small niches and crevices.

At the edge of this platform, at 12 meters depth, a slanting slope begins which reaches down to a depth of 30 – 40 meters. Consequently this dive site suits all levels of dive experience!

This „slope“ also has some rocky blocks. Here you can regularly meet large lobsters, mediterranean moray eels, octopus, various types of nudibranches and crabs.

The „highlight“ – as the name implies – represents a huge school of barracudas that are resident.  200 to 400 barracudas have already been spotted and are located either in the large, circular school, or directly above the oblique ground.

When slowly approached, they come very close. An unforgettable experience that can be captured by the underwater photographers.

Cap Falco

This dive site is located north of Port d’Andratx on a rock-outcrop, which opens up into a large and beautiful bay in the middle of the picturesque coast line towards „Sant Elm“. Three different anchorages are possible and therefore three different tours await you.

Further more at this dive site you are able to choose the maximum depth according to your own experience and expertize. Every depth offers it’s own fascination and different terrain. At 30 meters depth there are large rocks right on the sandy bottom and with the perfect visibility, these give a feeling of distance and tropical fields.

The rocks are covered with large, round hard corals and sponges, and offer a habitat for morays, conger eels and scorpion fish. In the shallower area you will be mesmerized by large sea grass meadows and rocky slopes where a large number of different schools of fish and in particular barracudas pass over.

A very simple and relaxed dive site, which unfolds its full beauty in the light of the afternoon sun.

The island of Dragonera

This large offshore island is a nature reserve and has a special fascination. Steep slopes and impressive rock formations form the habitat for large groupers, huge barracudas, beautiful schools of Salema porgy and many damselfish. Octopus in large numbers, morays and conger eels, as well as a large number of different nudibranches are also found in all shapes, sizes and colors.

The dive sites CAP DE TRAMUNTANA, CAP DE LLEBEITX, ARRECIFE BELLAVISTA offer optimal conditions for divers of all levels. The island Dragonera is also known as the „Sleeping Dragon“. The beauty of the steep coast line is breathtaking and therefore a wonderful experience not only under water.
